Credentials

One identity.
Every form factor.

Physical cards, mobile wallets, and virtual IDs — one source of truth, in sync with every system that checks them.

The credential layer

One person. Three credential form factors.

A campus or enterprise identity shows up in three places — on a piece of plastic, in the wallet on the device, and as a scannable code on screen. CardSync and CardPulse keep them in sync.

Physical Cards

You pick the partner. We make the ID work.

Physical card production stays with the issuance partner you already trust. CardSync plugs in — data flows, encodings match, and every reader on campus sees the same source of truth.

  • Work with partners that specialize in card production — not platforms that bolt it on as a single feature.
  • CardSync consumes ID data from your card-production system and distributes the credential across the rest of the ecosystem.
  • Bring our existing SIS, ERP, or IdP connection into card production — smoothing people-data and onboarding from the start.
  • When a credential changes status anywhere else, CardSync pushes the update back to card production — so you see what happened, and why, before printing another card.
    *Available on eligible integration partners.
Mobile Wallet

The ID on the device already in their hand.

Provisioned into Apple Wallet and Google Wallet by the credential manager you choose — not us. CardSync keeps issuance, revocation, and downstream systems in real-time sync.

Virtual ID

Virtual ID.
For when a scan is all you need.

An in-app credential built around QR codes and barcodes — use the FutureState app, or replicate everything you see here in your own via our SDK.

A different lane

What it is. What it isn’t.

What it is
  • An app-based credential built around QR codes and barcodes.
  • Yours or ours — embed it in your existing app, or use the FutureState app.
  • What gets encoded is your call: a stored attribute, or a CardSync-minted rotating value.
  • A live, glanceable visual that works at any reader with a camera.
What it isn’t
  • Not an Apple Wallet or Google Wallet pass — those live one section up.
  • Not an NFC tap credential. Not a bluetooth credential.
  • Not a fallback. It’s the right form factor when the workflow is a scan.
Two encoding modes

Define the value. Or let it rotate.

Both modes ride on the same Virtual ID — switchable per population in CardPulse.

Mode 01 · Defined attribute

Encode something your org already owns.

Pick any value on the cardholder record — student ID, replicated card number, email, or a custom attribute — and that’s what every scan resolves to. The same code every time, ready for the systems that already know how to read it.

  • Student ID number
  • Replicated card number (PAC / CSN)
  • Email address
  • Any custom attribute on the record
Mode 02 · Auto-rotating token

Let CardSync mint a fresh value on a schedule.

Set the rotation interval — seconds for high-trust check-in, minutes for class attendance, days for an event pass. In the FutureState app, users self-configure. Via our SDK, your app calls CardSync for a fresh value on its own cadence. Either way, every scan validates against the live record in real time.

  • Rotation: seconds → days
  • Self-configurable in our app
  • Or fetched via SDK from yours
  • Live validation · revocable mid-session
Powered by the FutureState SDK. Everything in the Virtual ID app — every mode, widget, and interaction — can be replicated inside your own app.
Live, not screenshot

A live visual the camera can’t capture.

Every Virtual ID carries a subtle, animated element that only renders on the device displaying it. Try to screenshot it and the motion stops cold — scan staff spot a stale copy at a glance.

  • Animated indicator only renders live
  • Stale screenshots are obvious on inspection
  • Pairs with auto-rotating mode for end-to-end trust
Widgets

Pinned to every surface.

Scan straight from the home-screen widgets, or one-tap launch to the code from the lock-screen tile.

Apple Watch

Scan right from your wrist.

Your credential, raised on the watch face. No reaching for a phone — just open the Virtual ID app on Apple Watch and scan.

A bridge to wallet

Better than a mag swipe.
Not quite wallet.

Virtual ID is not the future but it’s a great bridge from legacy cards to a mobile option while getting ready for what’s next. Quick to deploy, no provisioning, minimal hardware dependencies — then graduate the same population to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet on the same CardSync record. Same identity. Same source of truth.

One photo.
Every system that needs it.

Powered by remotePhoto by CloudCard

RemotePhoto by CloudCard is deeply integrated for photo submission across the FutureState platform. Every user-facing FutureState mobile and web app can capture and submit photos through the same trusted workflow.

Approved photos flow into CardSync, which distributes them in real time to every downstream system that needs the photo — ID card production, mobile credential managers, SIS / ERP, and more.

Manage, sync & verify

Explore the FutureState products that communicate manage validate credentials.

Once a credential exists, our products keep it accurate, observable, and usable everywhere on campus.

Open by design

Credentials are not commerce. We keep them open.

Bundled campus-card platforms tie credentials, commerce, and every integration into one proprietary suite — so changing one thing means changing everything. FutureState does the opposite. CardSync is the open hub; your credential managers and wallet providers are interchangeable spokes that you choose. Swap a partner without rebuilding your stack — your data never becomes a vendor’s moat, and we’re right there to make any move effortless.

No lock-in. Ever.

Put the credential in their pocket.
